day. tripper.

I’ve been quite well versed in the ways of travel this past week. I’ve adventured to malad, idaho falls, boise, salt lake, and back to logan. Along the way I got to see the following things;

  • the blue angels air show. I should maybe be embarrassed by how cool I thought that was. also, I finally learned to harness the powers of sunscreen to protect my (somewhat abnormally) pale skin. It only took me 22 years to figure this out…
  • my brother’s expression when I threw my glass of water in his face after dinner. he had been duly warned.
  • Boise, outside the confines of a school function. the highlights of this trip included; (can I just point out now how much i love bulleted lists and sublists? anyway…)
    • helping mrs. Sweeten set up her very first classroom! It was beyond cool. Also, I found a slinkie.
    • seeing a restaurant named Boobies. (let’s just stick with the much classier Hooters, shall we?)
    • going on a small tour of boise with a bona fide native.
    • roadtrip classics; licorice, music, and hilarious conversation.
    since we’re both moving soon, it was a great final hurrah with my bestie. (not final as in FINAL…just an excellent end of summer adventure)

I also traveled to salt lake and achieved nothing of value, with one notable exception. My intention was to go see The New Pornographers' concert, find an appropriate dwelling for the upcoming year, and maybe buy a clothing item as a reward for all my successful navigating of the city. (some may scoff at this notion, but let me remind you that the majority of my life was spent in a town with no stoplights. moving on…)

Instead I found only places with either questionable surroundings or questionable people. (one location bore the unfortunate distinction of possessing both).

My one accomplishment was managing to misplace my phone in the salt lake library. It is on the second floor, somewhere between the first row of zines and the farthest left chair by the window. Well that’s where it was at least. My harassing of the librarians yielded no results, and I must now assume that a library patron decided to claim my poor phone as their own…

I was forced to leave salt lake phoneless and without any housing to speak of. Also, my phone search both cut into the concert time and left me unable to contact my fellow concert goers. I still have yet to let The New Pornographers unleash their musical sensibilities on my ears. I left somewhat disheartened.

Never fear. I will not let cell phone snatchers, crappy apartments, or otherwise unpleasant conditions ruin my life. I will take that city. Trust me.

(also, throughout my adventuring I took a total of 10 pictures....and they were all at the air show. judge me if you wish…)

  1. I can't believe you both are leaving me. Do you realize that I'm the ONLY PV 34 member still in Logan? My heart aches due to loneliness and the fact that I'm too lame to get out of this valley.

  2. Brittany I looove Logan and all the memories created there and am sad to be leaving it! I think we should all pick a city and move there together in five years...what do you say?

    Lacy- thank you thank you thank you for coming with me to Boise! I never would have survived the drive alone and would have cried when I looked at all the classroom organizing if I had been alone. You are the bomb-diggity.

    (also this is Hailey and not Challis if people get confused and think you went with Challis on a road trip)
