April - Trips, New Jobs, and Coffee

Ok, holy crap. April was a MONTH. I started a new job, went on two weekends away, and felt quite productive and happy (as well as sad and nervous and excited...)

What We Did -

The girls and I met up with my mom in Ogden to go to the Treehouse Museum followed by ice-cream. We had a lot of outside playtime. I had my last day at SLCC. I went to Park City for the weekend with Hailey and Elise where we ate and shopped and sat in the hot tub nightly. I started my new job. We dyed easter eggs, and had an egg hunt with friends. Then we had our postponed weekend in Eden with friends where we snacked and cooked and relaxed and did NOT get cursed by the haunted neighbor cabin. Everything was great and fun and felt like normal life again.

Watching -

Finished Minx. Love Life (S1), Starstruck (S1) MY NEW FAVORITE SHOW OF ALL TIME??, The Ultimatum, finished Abbot Elementary

Reading -

In a New York Minute, God Spare the Girls, Fiona and Jane

Thinking about -

Just new work things. Too much new information!

Listening to -

The Newcomers podcast. At least one of my kids yelling at all times. The landscape people on Mondays. Oskar meowing to go outside.

Researching -

New work bags. A laptop sleeve (to fit in the new work bag). Art for my office. Black shoes. Something to contain my kid's stuffed animal collection.

Organizing -

I had three days of alone time between jobs and used it to firstly, nap and watch tv, and secondly wrap up some organizing projects. This included the kids hand me down bins which now live in my bedroom, my dresser, the linen closet, and dropping off the donation bags.

Cooking + Eating + Drinking -

Eating out so much! Partly because of trips, but partly also because I'm just too lazy lately? Or, maybe not lazy. But exhausted? Yeah, that seems like the right word choice.

Grateful for -

New opportunities. Time with friends. Getting some rain. My cordless vacuum.

What the girls are into -

Norah - reading, always. Wearing shorts again. All the Easter activities. All the Easter candy.

June - playing preschool, and being the teacher. Drawing. Playing with the LOL dolls.

They are both recently into The Fairly Oddparents and Calvin & Hobbes comics.

What Everett is doing -

Wearing sunglasses. Practicing the steps and hills outside. Saying TWO new words. (Uh-Oh and Hiiii). Being cheerful always.

Magic -

Laughing till I cried with friends I've had since 1st grade. Finding ONE unlocked door at the cabin in Eden so we weren't all trapped in the hot tub for the night.

Looking forward to -

NOTHING now that all my trips are done. Juuuust kidding. Now it's time to start planning a 10-year anniversary trip for September and hopefully a small family weekend getaway for the summer.

March - Covid, and stomach bugs, and summer weather.

What We Did -

Moved Ev into the girls room. Went to Holladay park and the library. Family movie night (Turning Red). Got a new fridge. And then another new fridge because the first new fridge didn't actually work. Grumble grumble.

Um also, I interviewed for and got a new job. So.

Inspired by -

Seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. More sunlight! Feeling like my brain is slowly opening up again.

Watching -

Righteous Gemstones. Still Seinfeld. Finished Grand CrewBridgerton. Started Minx and it is just delightful.

Reading -

The Maid. Reckless Girls. Matrix.

Thinking about -

I'm always thinking about doing a capsule wardrobe when the seasons change and then I  abandon the project after exhaustive research, a pinterest board, and buying like, one item.

Listening to -

Star-Crossed by Kacey Musgraves. The apartment geese constantly honking while they sit on the carport.

Researching -

New bedding and pillows and blackout curtains for our bedroom. The twee revival. Better tubing mascaras. Job postings. Lounge shorts that don't show my lower butt. Also new bras.

Organizing -

Our room! Now that there isn't a baby in there all the time I've had time to start cleaning and organizing things again. I need to sell a bunch of clothes and clean my closet. I'm so so happy to have our space back again.

Cooking + Eating + Drinking -

Eating out a lot due to laziness and aforementioned fridge issues. Wanting to cook, but not enough to actually follow through consistently.

Grateful for -

That we were able to re-schedule our kids free friend trip after we got a stomach bug. That the stomach bug was very short lived. That the weather was very nice when we were forced to stay home for the weekend because of the stomach bug.

What the girls are into -

Teaching me about the ghost portal. New Tamagotchis.

Norah - Taking purses and clutches to school. Her new glasses.

June - Being a ballerina. Drawing on earrings. Remembering really old things (going to Storybrook TWO years ago, the smell of bleach reminding her of the singular time Brian tie-dyed in early pandemic)

What Everett is doing -

Climbing on the kitchen chairs and table. Being delighted to share a room. Has recently discovered drawing and is extremely into it.

Magic -

The kids and neighbor kids being able to play outside together again.

Looking forward to -

Two weekends away in April! Starting a new job? I guess?!
