Marinade

How to make a carne asada marinade in 28 easy steps.

1. Deep dive your email inbox for the recipe you asked your SIL for in 2013 and then promptly never made.

2. Print it out because sometimes you want a hard copy.

3. The next day while making your kids' lunch, remember that you have to make the marinade.

4. Find the recipe in the bathroom where Juniper was "reading" it whilst sitting on the toilet.

5. Wash hands.

6. Get out limes, cilantro, and peppers out of the fridge.

7. The cat won't stop meowing. Put him in the bedroom.

8. Wash hands.

9. Juice 1 Lime.

10. Think about how you can get an acid burn from juicing citrus and then being out in the sun. Make a mental note to look into that before you go outside later.

11. Mince cilantro, 1/4 cup.

12. June comes in covered in some mystery black substance. Realize it's from the mushroom she foraged yesterday and decided to bring inside. Clean her hands. Locate and throw away the (now disintegrating) mushroom. Disinfect table where mushroom was turning to sludge.

13. Wash hands.

14. Dice 1 serrano pepper.

15. Wash hands. (there was a dicing peppers/menstrual cup incident years ago that has ensured hands will ALWAYS be washed after touching a pepper.)

16. Finish iced coffee from two hours ago.

17. Turn on Pokémon for Norah.

18. Combine lime juice, cilantro, olive oil, pepper, and garlic.

19. Help Norah find her pokedex book.

20. Cat is scratching bedroom door. Let him out.

21. Wash hands.

22. Add sugar, ground coriander, mexican oregano, cumin, sea salt, and black pepper.

23. June comes in with her baby. Admire the baby.

24. Throw the steak into a bowl and cover with marinade.

25. Wash hands.

26. Text Sara a picture and ask if this is how to properly marinade.

27. Pour everything into a freezer bag as she kindly suggested. Put bag in fridge.

28. You're done! The mess in the kitchen is someone else's problem.
