why do you let me stay here?

maybe this is my second post about zooey deschanel.

maybe that makes me a creeper.

maybe i just don't care.

i was among the privileged crowd who got to see mrs. ben gibbard and mr. m. ward play at the final twilight concert of the summer. i honestly didn't think i could love her anymore than i already did...but guess what? i can. (and do)

here are some photos from said event.

it's possible i also have a small crush on matt...

zooey danced, and played a tamborine, and had amazing hair. i'm still hoping that one day we'll be best friends...

when Time was just a line that you fed me.

sometimes i'm super grateful to the me that i was yesterday. ...also known as Past Lacy. Past Lacy has my back. she does things like delete numbers out of my cell phone so i can't late night text someone. Past Lacy also decided not to buy those chocolate chip cookies, so Present Lacy can't binge on them while watching alias. (which seriously, is blowing my mind right now....and yes i know i'm about 8 years behind...blame Past Lacy) Past Lacy paid my cell phone bill and remembered my Mom's birthday. She also gets credit for being patient and waiting to buy those shoes until they were on sale.

unfortunately Past Lacy isn't perfect. Past Lacy didn't buy the cookies, but she forgot to buy milk, so Present Lacy has to eat toast for breakfast. Past Lacy also didn't organize her belongings very well when she packed them, so now Present Lacy can't find anything. maybe worst of all, Past Lacy didn't get her crap together all summer, and now Present Lacy is suffering for it.

sometimes i wish i could get the me i am now together with the me i was yesterday and have an organizational pow-ow. we could also invite the me i'll be tomorrow, just to be fair...

the following photos have nothing to do with the above post. i just like them. and i think they make my blog prettier. all found here (as per usual)

walking after midnight.

i have been harboring a crush on this couple for a long time. but this video just made me love them that much more. enjoy!

the easter parade.

now that i've returned to 'daho (for those just tuning in, i have returned to my parent's basement. and that is all i wish to say about that) my days go a lot differently. these are the ways i tend to fill my time.

- perusing jobs on craigslist, ksl, indeed, university job boards, etc.

- obsessively checking my newly established gmail account for responses to the seemingly endless amount of resumes and applications i've sent out.

- hiding out in my newly re-established room/cave. the amount of possessions crammed into a small space aid in the cave-like feeling of my newest abode.

- taking the dog for walks. (this is somewhat selfish on my part, as i fear the return to three square meals a day will cause more than just my appetite to expand...)

- trying to dodge my brothers endless requests to "go for a cruise." losing my finger strength white-knuckling the door handle of my dad's 87 buick while my brother uses the gas like a drum pedal is not exactly my idea of a great time...

- attempting to be useful to my family as an apology for my unexpected return. i try to aid the daily routines by helping with dinner, cleaning, and keeping my moping to a minimum.

- missing - people in logan, having an income, and the ability to buy bread after 9 pm.

heart of glass.

i'm rather fond of this. found here. (that entire post is fantastic)
and yes, i'm posting twice in one night. it's called i have too much time on my hands.

so says i.

my favorite part of this job application? the verification of my being human. thanks dental administrators. i'm relieved to know you have such a thorough and discerning process to select job candidates.

OoO

sometimes i like to play a game called, "how far can i lean off my bed to reach something before i topple off."

i almost always lose.

An Important List.

i meant to post this much sooner following graduation, but sadly this little note sat neglected in my edit posts tab. poor thing.

Things I Learned In College.

- studying is definitely overrated.

- having an illegal pet is totally worth the fear of losing your cleaning deposit.

- no matter how broke you are, don't get the 66 cent bread. it isn't worth it.

- taking no shower is highly adviseable to taking a cold one.

- waking up late on sunday pretty much guarantees the previous condition.

- coloring is a great stress reliever.

- your coworkers have a much bigger impact on your job happiness than the actual work that you do.

- some people just never learn to put their dishes in the dishwasher. ever.

- class goes by much faster with snacks.

- you can never have too many dance parties in the kitchen.

- liquid dishsoap is not a suitable alternative to dishwasher detergent.

- anything that takes longer than 12 minutes to cook probably isn't worth it...

- some of my best writing is cranked out at 2 am.

- sno cones can change your life.
- never underestimate the power of sarcasm.

- the most magical things can be found at the DI.

- many amusing incidents occur on the shuttle.

- cold brownie batter makes any situation better. by at least ten times.

- taking summer classes goes against nature. it should only be attempted with caution.

- if you don't dress up for halloween you're just wasting it.

- sleepovers in the living room can never be a bad idea.

- always say yes to road trips or travel opportunities of any kind.

- if you make out with your neighbor's friend you will hear about it for the rest of the semester.

- there is never a good time to do laundry.

- roommates can ruin your life. but they can be pretty great too.

this song explains why I'm leaving home to become a stewardess

holy week.

otherwise known as, good crap a lot of stuff has gone down in a very short amount of time.

observe the following list.

  • babies (two of them) were born on monday. Lillian and Sophie are the newest objects of my affection. i didn't realize i could love something so much that wasn't created by Ben & Jerry. (kudos to the mangelsons for making the cutest babies i've ever seen)
  • my lovely friend's equally lovely grandma passed away. i loved hearing more about her amazing life, and i know she will be missed.
  • half my possessions were moved back to idaho. cut to me sitting bewildered in the middle of my floor surrounded by records, shoes, books, boxes, and more pens than any one person should possess. the other half will follow shortly and the mental breakdown resulting from returning to the home of my youth will be soon after.
the rest of the week will be filled with baby visits, a funeral, pack-pack-packing, and at least one emotional breakdown. (scratch that last one, it's already been taken care of)
to quote almost famous (one of my more favorite movies) "it's all happening"

it certainly is kate hudson. it certainly is.

a letter.

dear phone,

i miss you. do you think about the times we shared, the pictures we took, and the many different kinds of ground i dropped you on? can you comprehend how important you were in my life? the thousands of text messages you enabled me to send and receive and the hours of conversation you made possible will not be forgotten. i'm sorry our time together was cut short, i should have been more watchful over you. i hope you are safe and can continue to live out your life's purpose. i will forever mourn your loss. please don't forget me.

lacy.

day. tripper.

I’ve been quite well versed in the ways of travel this past week. I’ve adventured to malad, idaho falls, boise, salt lake, and back to logan. Along the way I got to see the following things;

  • the blue angels air show. I should maybe be embarrassed by how cool I thought that was. also, I finally learned to harness the powers of sunscreen to protect my (somewhat abnormally) pale skin. It only took me 22 years to figure this out…
  • my brother’s expression when I threw my glass of water in his face after dinner. he had been duly warned.
  • Boise, outside the confines of a school function. the highlights of this trip included; (can I just point out now how much i love bulleted lists and sublists? anyway…)
    • helping mrs. Sweeten set up her very first classroom! It was beyond cool. Also, I found a slinkie.
    • seeing a restaurant named Boobies. (let’s just stick with the much classier Hooters, shall we?)
    • going on a small tour of boise with a bona fide native.
    • roadtrip classics; licorice, music, and hilarious conversation.
since we’re both moving soon, it was a great final hurrah with my bestie. (not final as in FINAL…just an excellent end of summer adventure)

I also traveled to salt lake and achieved nothing of value, with one notable exception. My intention was to go see The New Pornographers' concert, find an appropriate dwelling for the upcoming year, and maybe buy a clothing item as a reward for all my successful navigating of the city. (some may scoff at this notion, but let me remind you that the majority of my life was spent in a town with no stoplights. moving on…)

Instead I found only places with either questionable surroundings or questionable people. (one location bore the unfortunate distinction of possessing both).

My one accomplishment was managing to misplace my phone in the salt lake library. It is on the second floor, somewhere between the first row of zines and the farthest left chair by the window. Well that’s where it was at least. My harassing of the librarians yielded no results, and I must now assume that a library patron decided to claim my poor phone as their own…

I was forced to leave salt lake phoneless and without any housing to speak of. Also, my phone search both cut into the concert time and left me unable to contact my fellow concert goers. I still have yet to let The New Pornographers unleash their musical sensibilities on my ears. I left somewhat disheartened.

Never fear. I will not let cell phone snatchers, crappy apartments, or otherwise unpleasant conditions ruin my life. I will take that city. Trust me.

(also, throughout my adventuring I took a total of 10 pictures....and they were all at the air show. judge me if you wish…)
