February - Short and Long

This short month was sponsored by covid! My parents got it, our friends got it, and we finally succumbed to it. So that...sucked, but the month wasn't a total wash!

What We Did -

The girls performed several nights of ribbon dancing to celebrate Lunar New Year. We had family movie nights and watched both Paddington movies. We met with friends at Sugarhouse park. Norah had her first eye appointment and we got the unsurprising news that she needs glasses. We went to a friend's birthday party. We celebrated Valentine's day with pizza and Encanto. I went on an "emergency" run for pie and flowers and ate a normal ice cream bar in my car.

Inspired by -

Window shopping for summer clothes. These few insanely warm days we've had this month. Eclectic home style.

Watching -

Three days into our Covid isolation,I sat on the kitchen floor and subscribed to HBO Max instead of starting dinner. Honestly, a perfect decision. Having tv I'm excited about is such a good coping mechanism for me. I blew threw Sex Lives of College Girls, and the first season of Righteous Gemstones. Brian and I started The Other Two and Black Lady Sketch Show and kept watching Seinfeld. I also watched the second season of Dollface. I also tried to watch Euphoria and couldn't hack it. Too bleak for me at this current moment. But I DID go ahead and read the every episode synopsis for both seasons.

Reading -

They'll Never Catch Us. Station Eleven. This book is so so so good. Get a Life, Chloe Brown. Detransition, Baby. This book is also so so good.

Thinking about -

Not being relieved by getting covid. Finally feeling some relief after everyone was recovered from covid. What to do with our tax return. (rather, what to pay off with our tax return...).

Listening to -

The girls daily request of the Encanto soundtrack. And very few podcasts. I was finally mostly caught up on my podcasts and then two weeks home ruined all my progress.

Researching -

Covid symptoms. Of course. Bookshelves. What to watch on HBO.

Organizing -

Kitchen cupboards. The linen closet. The paper piles on the kitchen table.

Not an organized table. But I just love slice of life scenes like this. We have an abandoned apple, our government sponsored covid tests, new spouts for the kids water bottles, my "emergency" flowers, and paper and scissors from a craft lesson taught by Norah.

Grateful for -

That my friends, my parents, and my family were able to get through our covid cases without any real issues or emergencies. Feeling so lucky and relieved that it wasn't worse.

What the girls are into -

For Valentine's Day I got the kids blankets with animal hoods and paw glove....attachments? It's been a regular occurrence to have a pink koala or dinosaur wander through the living room in search of snacks. They are also very into their new trundle bed and have made a secret hideout in the space created under Norah's bed when the trundle is pulled out.

Norah has also made a hideout in one of the cabinets in the kitchen. She'll shut herself inside with her notebook and pens, a stuffy, and some snacks. And then Ev will open the door on her a thousand times (and climb in himself the second it's vacated).

What Everett is doing -

I, without realizing, had never taken Everett to the playground before because I tend to take the girls when he's napping. When he was finally unleashed on Sugarhouse Park he was BESIDE himself. He was beaming the whole time and so excited to see all the things and all the people. He spent the majority of his time climbing up on slides and being extremely cute.

Missing -

Leaving the house. Ever being alone in the house.

Looking forward to -

My little kids ever being able to get vaccinated. Daylight savings. Moving Ev into the girl's room.

Valentine's Day Mode Activated.

The day I gave up and just gave them a bowl of dry rice. It took maybe 6 minutes before it was coating the entire floor and in everyone's hair and clothes. Worth it.

This was Ev's face when he saw me and the girl's getting out of the car.
