October

October has kind of become one of my favorite months. Fall, halloween, pumpkin eeeeeverything. I'm super basic and I've come to terms with it. This month was great and wonderful and we did some stuff. See below.

We tried a new hike in Millcreek Canyon and quickly realized just how out of shape we both are. We all took a nap when we got home which never ever happens and it was great.

My parents came up for the day and we had a picnic at Silver Lake. We've been trying to show them more parts of Salt Lake than just the inside of our apartment and the inside of a restaurant. So far so good!

We went to a pumpkin patch and corn maze in West Jordan. I want to do all the holiday and seasonal things with Norah. ALL. OF. THEM. (also, having a kid is a great excuse to skip any of the scary Halloween stuff which is decidedly not my thing.)

I decided to embark on a trip to Boise with Norah. We spent the first night in Malad (grandparent cuddles for Norah!) and then carried on the rest of the way. Norah, as always, was a road trip champion. I realized I didn't know how to use the bathroom and hold a toddler. We got to spend a few days with Hailey and her kiddos and it was super great! I took like three pictures, Norah enjoyed playing with her friends, and I got to eat a lot of cookies. Overall I would deem the trip a success!

Norah had a couple rough teething days so I got to stay home and cuddle with her. It was sad for her, but kind of nice for me.

We bought a new bed frame! We've been sleeping on half a deconstructed bunk bed for 3 years, so we're both pretty stoked for an upgrade.

My family has a lot of birthdays in the October-November area, so we went down to Malad for a big combined birthday party. Norah wore overalls, so the event was a success.

Brian had to work Halloween night, so we met up with some friends at Tracey Aviary during the day. Half price admission if you wore a costume! That night Norah and I hung out with the Archuletas. Ashley made us delicious dinner in a pumpkin and Ray tried to hand out vegetables to the trick or treaters. Solid night.

Don't let this pretty picture fool you. This hike nearly made both of us collapse.

Norah got a sticker from the check-out lady. It pleased her.

September in Review

Maybe someday I'll start thinking up snappier titles for these monthly review posts? I'll work on it.

This month we...

- Since we celebrated our anniversary the last weekend in August on our actual annversary we....basically just ate the rest of our wedding cake. No complaints.

- Driving to work one windy day, I saw a garbage can lid blow up and nail a passing bike rider. I exploded with laughter and the bike rider continued to pedal away (I assume, with only his pride damaged). That's the kind of thing that I feel like happens to me all the time.

- We had brunch at Caffe Niche with Amber and Ben. We had never been there before and we both proclaimed it delicious and Norah blessed it with a scattering of cheerios.

- We went to the State Fair. Norah liked the chickens, I liked the corn dogs, and we all liked the baby animals.

- Norah started a new daycare. Our previous daycare provider/friend found out she was having twins(!) so she understandably wasn't going to be able to watch her anymore. We found a new in-home place with some other kiddos Norah's age and she seems to really like it! (Can we also discuss how this summer I had to find both a new job AND a new daycare and try to make them coordinate? Holy stressful.)

- We tried to watch lip sync battle. It was painful.

- We celebrated Norah's first birthday! We had a super small party with family and a few friends and it was so so great. We watched a video of Norah's first year and ate some pizza and snacks, Norah opened some awesome presents, and she only had a minor meltdown when I tried to make her wear her birthday hat. I cannot believe we've had a full year with this kid. She's the best thing ever and I love her more every day.

- After everyone left we all ended up taking a long nap. After Norah woke up she got to watch some Daniel Tiger and eat some more of her cake in a bowl. She lives a good life.

- Norah's party was the weekend before the actual day. On her real birthday she got some mac and cheese from noodles and company, we took her to liberty park, and she got to eat some more of her cake. And maybe I cried while I was rocking her to sleep. All to be expected.

And now a million pictures!

So blurry, but I love how she leans against walls all the time like this.

These balloons stayed afloat for nearly a month, and started to really freak us out.
