August in Review

The end of summer! How? Why? When (did summer pass by)? This month was a good one. We were unusually social and got in some daytrips (and an anniversary overnight trip!). Itemized list below.

We had dinner with the Mangelsons at Wood Oak Pizza in Draper. That place is quite delicious and I want to go back soon. The Mangelsons are quite good company and I want to hang out with them again soon. (Brittany and I sent each other texts the next day that were very reminiscent of the texts one might send after a date, so I think they felt the same)

Ashley and I had a little shopping night where we pored over everything in Sephora and ate some food court cuisine. I forget how refreshing it is to miss the bedtime routine and talk endlessly about makeup with someone. More of that, I say!

Brian and I got some kind of food poisoning/stomach bug and it wiped us out for multiple days. Poor Norah was going crazy being stuck inside while her parents lay groaning on the floor. But we all survived and may never cook our own lo mein again...

We finally made it to the farmers market and even met up with our favorite friends there! Breakfast pastries were purchased, cherry jam was sampled, and I remembered that downtown is a pretty cool place to be.

We tried out a wine bar with Darren and Erin while Norah played with the Morrises. (Aaaand maybe had a small breakdown because her smart parents didn't think she would want to go to bed while she was there. Lesson learned.) The place was super nice and the food was delicious. I love Norah to death, but it is nice to occasionally partake in an evening where I'm not consumed by the adventures of an 11 month old.

We had a poker/fondue night with our friends. I found out I'm not good at calling people's bluff, and poker is a lot less fun when you only have like 5 pieces of candy left to bet with. I want to play again soon to try and improve my skills, and also I want to eat cheese fondue every night.

Norah and I had a playdate with Jamilyn and Clementine at City Creek. Norah loved watching all the big kids running around the play area and I got very overprotective of her when those same big kids seemed like they were going to squash her.

Hailey and I had a Logan reunion and it was my favorite. We walked around campus, got some Aggie ice cream, and made our kids pose on the A. It will never seem real to me that it's been FIVE years since I left that place.

We had a family adventure in Park City! We shopped the outlets, toured a whiskey distillery (oh man, Brian was soooo into that. I loved it), and showed Norah all the things she had missed when we were there the year before on our babymoon.

Jamilyn, Ashley and I had a girls night repeat from last summer and traveled to Provo to get some more snocones from Yuki, I got a peach, vanilla, cinnamon one and it seriously tasted like cobbler. They make all their own flavors from actual ingredients and it's so so good.

We met up with my parents in Logan for lunch. Afterward then they took Norah to Malad and Brian and I stayed in Logan for the night. Watching my parents drive away with Norah (TO ANOTHER STATE) was kind of the weirdest thing ever and I maybe almost cried. But after an hour or so we had both gotten more used to it and really enjoyed our time together. We had dinner at Le Nonne (which Brian proclaimed one of the best meals of his life. I have to agree. I want to eat their bruschetta mozzarella every single day. I nearly did when I worked there.) and stayed at a cute bed and breakfast in Providence. The next day we slept in (!!!) and ate breakfast in bed (!!!) and went to a movie. It was a lovely anniversary and Norah had the time of her life with her grandparents and probably didn't even notice we were gone.

On the very last day of the month I started a new job at Salt Lake Community College. I'm a full week in now and I already feel like I can say that I really like it! I've missed working and spending time on a college campus, so this is kind of a perfect fit for me.

We found a hidden park while driving around and admiring houses and trying to extend Norah's car nap. We revisited it a few days later and it's so pretty and weird.

This month Norah started getting really into books. I love catching her quietly flipping through one.
Norah's been trying to get the courage to go through this tunnel at Jeorgis. She got her head in this day.
Poker night, after I had lost most of my cash (candy).

Can you guess who was most excited about the Eddie Bauer outlet?

She did it!

I love baby led weaning, but the mess Norah makes is not for the faint of heart.

We're training Norah to be a blackjack dealer.
Norah figured out how to drink out of my waterbottle and now I barely get to use it.
I never watch tv in the background while Norah is playing...

She looks so big in these pictures I can't stand it.

So big!

Norah got into the pantry and thought it was the coolest ever.

Going on a walk with my parents.

My dad was nice enough to send a lot of picture updates of Norah's Malad adventure. She was clearly super missing us....
Happy Anniversary to us!

July in Review

July! I love this month. We get two holidays off work and it's just as summery as summer gets.

Norah and I headed to Malad for Fourth of July celebrations a day before Brian. The weekend was perfect. We got to spend a lot of time with family, play outside AND eat outside which is my favorite. We skipped the fireworks this year as Norah's interactions with loud noises are not positive, but she loved the parade and having an endless amount of attention showered on her.

My cute husband turned 34 and we celebrated all week long with a dinner with friends at Red Rock, dinner at Taqueria 57 on his actual birthday night, and dinner at Tucanos with my parents the following weekend. So....we celebrated by eating a whole lot of food.

We went on a hike at City Creek again and made it to the two mile mark. Our goal is to make it all the way to the end (3 miles I think?) before the end of the year.

We took Norah to Tracy Aviary. I liked the flamingos and she liked the pelicans.

On to the photo overload!

Eating coasters with Aunt Kay.
Brian found this at work and I was soooo excited. I can never ever find my name on stuff. (however, he didn't share it with me which I think violates the unwritten agreement entered into upon purchase)
Norah's selfie game is strong.

Family date at Tracy Aviary
Norah was very betrayed that I made her try on my cat ears.
Very betrayed.
Norah's typical day starts with organizing the dvds,
And then taking a quick rest.
The cats follow suit.
Visiting the pigs at Wheeler Farm.

Love extra long weekends with this kid.
Brian's reading of Cat the Cat commanded a rapt audience.

The butt in the air kills me every time.
Toys go on the floor, baby goes in the basket.

Commence the 4th of July photo barrage!
She so rarely uses a binky that it kills me with cuteness when she does.

Why do I always convince myself that we can all nap together?

Liberty Park living.
Brian and I finally came out on top on a Fitbit competition and we celebrated with a pretty intense high five.

Silver Lake!
