May - It's hot! I'm not mad about it yet!

This month had big highs and extremely low lows and I guess that's just what life is now. Fun!

What We Did -

A bunch of stuff! I went to the downtown flea market for the first time and got some cool candlesticks, a bubble vase, and another piece for my milk glass collection. The girls and I went to baby animal days, and the girls really bonded with the goats and baby cows, and a yak named Aggie. We reinstated Cold Treat Wednesdays with Slurpee's, Farr's ice cream, and McFlurries. I got the kids a cardboard playhouse that then lived in our living room all month. We had pizza at Sara's house and played with her puppy. We went on a family field trip to the U campus where the kids scootered and played in a big fountain and then we got burgers. We all went to Ashley's house for a playdate in the sprinklers. I somehow had two movie nights in one weekend, one to Gateway with Ashley and one with Sara at her house. We went to a new to us playground that had a nice nature area. And finally, I took the kids to Malad on Memorial Weekend and they played ALL DAY and I snuck out for a bit to see Hailey's new cute house.

Inspired by -

Going on some walks. Watching the movie mentioned below. Being downtown at night.

Watching -
Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. I can't with this movie. So weird, so beautiful, so funny.

Reading -

Early Morning Riser (loved it!), Funny You Should Ask (liked it), The Golden Couple (liked it), The Daylight Marriage (did not care for at all!!)

Thinking about -

A lot of terrible things. Reproductive rights. Gun violence. How shitty it is to raise kids here.

Listening to -

Harry's House, Into the Deep podcast

Dream life -

I had a dream that I was chatting and holding hands with Jason Mantzoukas and then my alarm went off and I've never been so mad.

Researching -

The perfect pajama shorts. New alien information (but not really, I've just had the tab open for weeks and haven't looked at it. because that's what life is like now. We can't take time to learn about ALIENS.) Taping your mouth at night to prevent mouth-breathing. Listen. I jumped into this research fully and now I'm like, wait, is this crunchy nonsense?

Organizing -

The pantry finally. I kept buying things to organize it better and then just shoving them onto an already crowded shelf, which, surprisingly, was not effective.

Grateful for -

I'm grateful that my kids are (currently) safe, and angry that it isn't a given that they'll be safe at school.

What the girls are into -

Always thrilled to be watching Captain Underpants (tra-la-LA) or The Fairly Oddparents. Always happy when they get to play Dr. Panda Town on the iPad. Happiest when they get to play outside with friends, draw, or playing an elaborate game that involves 10-20 stuffed animals. Norah has been very into tracking ants and trying to hold them. June loves playing alone with her tiny princess dolls and cars.

What Everett is doing -

Just truly living his happiest life all the time. He has this kind of side to side run he does when he's excited, and he's doing it most of the time. I love when Brian gets him out of bed and he runs to see me. I love how much he loves pizza. I love his fake laugh when he wants to join in on us laughing. And I love his fuzzy blonde hair.

Magic -

When we had a playground all to ourselves. Walking up a big nature-y hill with the girls and feeling like we where somewhere else.

Missing -

I don't know. Previous versions of myself? The optimism I used to possess? Not worrying about my kids going to school, and grocery stores, and movies.

Looking forward to -

The pool opening. It's looking likely they might open it in June this year! (it wasn't opened until the end of July last year...). Taking the kids to some splashpads. Eating more ice cream.
