Highlights included:

.trying the mini antlers on every cat in the house. (with oskar there were 3)

.my whole family busting out the peanut butter jelly song

.my dad referring to oskar as "de la renta"

.my brother's reprisal of Joseph

.watching "The Year Without a Santa Claus" and having all my childhood memories well up inside me

.trying to teach my dad what a cardigan was. he might have it down

.making my family watch the community clip of britta singing before we went into the living room for presents

  - approaching year-iversary at work. color me confused. i've worked here for a year? wierded. out.

 - this is what i ate for thanksgiving.




 - going back to skeeewl [sorry] in january! nexcited. (that's nervous and excited). looking forward to see if a. i remember how to do homework and b. having a new phone seriously detracts from my ability to pay attention in class. mental note - stock up on class snacks.


 - oskar is the cutest cat of ever. i have a whole photo post i'll be putting up soon. also, he made a new friend!




 - making some progress on a few birthday list items. will post updates as they occur.


 - here's one of the few photos of me as margot for halloween. remember how my hair used to legitimately be that color? also, john creeping in the background is my favorite.

week 3.

some more from idaho. i spend a landmark TWO weekends there, and it was full of happy thanksgiving times. and oskar made new cat friends! (he loves vacationing)

week 2.

Food Fest 2011. a new holiday created by ashley and i. consisting of eating a lot of delicious food for a week in preparation for thanksgiving. feel free to celebrate! (and yes, that was my dessert plate at golden corral. and i ate most of it)

week 1.

Here my 5 photos for the week! (yes, they were all taken on my phone. i'm hoping to expand and use my digital camera or one of my film cameras at some point)

24 before 25

so my birthday was really really great. you'll have to just take my word on it, because i took a total of 2 pictures to commemorate the events. (spoiler alert. one has my cat in it, and can be seen at the bottom of this post...)

aaaanyway, here's a list of things i hope to will accomplish in the next year. if this idea sounds familiar, it's because i'm straight-up copying it from several bloggers.

1 - learn to sew. (at least enough to alter a dress)

2 - make a cheesecake. the fancy kind. that you bake.

3 - run 6 consecutive miles. and possibly run a 10k.

4 - make-out at the park and wait at the airport.
5 - eat at a sit down restaurant by myself.
6 - do a photo-a-day blog post.
7 - buy and wear legit heels. more than once.
8 - read at least 5 of the "classic" books i bought my senior year of college.
9 - start doing some of the crafts i save on pinterest. specifically this, this, and this.
10 - watch at least 15 documentaries from this list.

11 - try the oil cleansing method.

12 - go on at least one trip that takes me more than two states away.

13 - go back to school.

14 - learn to make a circle scarf.
15 - print out and make albums of all my favorite pictures.

16 - write letters.

17 - make my own cross-stitch pattern.
18 - make homemade poptarts.
19 - get a passport.
20 - buy something leopard print.

21 - take at least 5 photos a week.

22 - paint my dresser.

23 - go on a water park tour.
24 - make a decent pizza crust.

roommates made me dinosaur pumpkin pancakes. hap-happy.

halloween looked something like this.

not pictured - my margot tenenbaum costume, a haunted orchestra, creeper guys who mistook my wednesday addams costume for a naughty schoolgirl costume, guys who mistook my tennis costume as a schoolgirl costume, a kermit pumpkin,  party-hopping with johnny depp characters, doing a raptor impersonation in the Denny's lobby at 4 a.m., and a "treehouse of horror" mini-marathon.

and yes, i did dress my cat as a lion. and it was the best thing ever.

if i were a zombie, i'd never eat your brain. i'd just want your heart.

potentially embarassing things that have recently come to my attention.

i sometimes find spoons lying around in my room or next to the couch. it finally occured to me that it's from me eating a spoonful of nutella and then abandoning the spoon.


i wave to people in an arking "pocahontas/wingapo" style.


i say "dope" to the point where it's no longer ironic.


i went to bed with my retainer in and when i woke up it was missing. i fully expected to find it in my bed somewhere or maybe on the ground (once in college i threw my retainer across the room in the middle of the night. hailey found it the next morning lying next to her bed) but it took me a full week to find it in the pocket of the ratty old hoodie i sleep in sometimes. (the embarassing part of that wasn't supposed to be that i still wear a retainer, though in hindsight, it's probably a good addition to the list)


probably 85% of the time i try to put on my cardigan when it's already buttoned up.

i'll never open my eyes again to see you walk away.

sometimes i'm just happy with the way things turn out.


sometimes i apply for college again and get really excited about it.


sometimes i'm sad that the sun goes down so early and start making plans for tropical winter vacations.


sometimes i'm due for a phone upgrade and consider being as cool as most people's grandparents by getting an iPhone.


sometimes i write a short blog post to kill time before i go to the St. Vincent concert.


sometimes i get concerned that the concert doesn't start till 10, and what this will mean for my productivity at work tomorrow.


sometimes it probably doesn't matter because i'm not always super productive anyway....

It’s ok. We all have our strengths. Mine are more suited to virtual beat-downs. 

OMG. New Britney Spears leaked today. I have yet to hear it. 

I forget how awkward you are sometimes. 

These are the days we should definitely live in the same city and practice our bitter old women routine…just so we have it down when we get old. Next step is to live next door and wear coordinating shrugs and discuss how crappy things have gone since we were children… 

If we need to stage a 5 Gum boycott, I’m fully prepared to stand by you and recruit troops. Want me to make a FB page?

I was trying to keep it g-rated for the cat’s ears in case he was around. He’s very sensitive you know.
