January Wrap-Up

Oof. This year started on not ideal terms but we did it. We made it through the month!

What We Did -

We had a small NYE party with friends where one of our kids threw up on the rug AND the porch before we could leave. (the rest of the party was great!). So we spent the first day of the year with 3 sick people and a lot of sleeping and tv watching. And then it felt like the rest of the month was spent lying low, introverting, and experiencing some panic attacks (yay!).  But also I took the girls on a couple library trips, to Tulie bakery, and outside with the neighbor friends. We also made muddy buddies (the girls flipped for them). We ended the month with a covid daycare closure and more covid tests. Oh and one weekend the girls went to Malad and we took Ev antique shopping.

Inspired by -

This disco ball art. Decluttering my goals. Re-arranging the kids room. Taking two days off work and spending them cleaning, napping, and binging Schmigadoon.

Watching -

Another Twilight movie (Eclipse). Another Fast and Furious movie (Tokyo Drift). Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas. (I cried 5? times). Starting watching Golden Girls, because I've never done a full watch. We've had been rewatching random Seinfeld episodes to chill out at night and decided to just start properly from the beginning. And, as mentioned, I watched all of Schmigadoon in one day and it was great. We started family movie night and have so far watched Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 1 and 2.

Reading -

The Matzah Ball. The Party Crasher. And then I stopped reading the rest of the month? Odd.

Thinking about -

Covid numbers! How KN95 masks are NOT cute. What kind of new wreath I want to make for our front door. Making the kids room moon/space themed. Will any of the kids sleep once they're ALL sharing a room?

Listening to -

Anna Marie Tendler's Spotify playlist "Rooms In The First House." The new season of Neighborhood Listen!

Dream life -

My dreams have been so vivid lately and I hate it. It make me feel like I'm not actually resting. They're not horrible dreams luckily, but they're always at least somewhat unpleasant.

Researching -

The cookbooks I got from the library. Kitchen tables. Kitchen chairs. Trundle Beds. Carseats. The Home Work, Magnolia dust-up. Turtlenecks.

Organizing -

The art table. All the art! Someone please help me decide how to save the kids art stuff that made it through the culling.  My cabinet of....whatever. A new system for masks (kill me). The kid's room after Brian installed the new trundle bed!

Grateful for -

That we still, somehow, inexplicably, haven't gotten Covid. Though, at this point, it might be kind of a relief when we do. That we all like being together. The sun setting later!

What the girls are into -

Norah - very into her new lego set. She has made a camera, a dog (or...it could be a rabbit), a gift, and her old favorite, little rooms with furniture. She loves reading out loud to us from Dog Man or Dory Fantasmagory.

June - giving herself marker tattoos. Helping with whatever we are cooking. Making up her own theme music for "nature girl".

What Everett is doing -

Walking and falling onto the pouf, on repeat. Crawling onto the couch. Alternating between walking and crawling. Riding on his new push train. Pointing and saying "that!". Doing his new wave, which looks like little pinches. Giving hugs. Bringing Maisy books to be read over and over. Vrooming all his cars.

Magic -

The girls narrating what their ghost friends are doing during car rides. (usually standing on the roofs of buildings).

Missing -

My mental health! (joke! Sort of!). Feeling safe enough to go to the campus gym.

Looking forward to -

Weekend trips we have planned for spring. The vision I have of a future where everything has been recently organized. (Ha!) More good weather days.
